Drug-Safe Workplace
Why Drug-Safe and not Drug-Free?
A Drug-Safe Workplace is about helping to provide a safe place to work.
Many organisations try to create a work environment that is drug-free. This is an unrealistic and impossible goal as many people who work require medication or prescription drugs to enable them to lead a normal, productive and pain free life.
A Drug-Safe Workplace, on the other hand, is one that is free of substance abuse that includes illegal drugs such as marijuana, amphetamines, heroin and cocaine plus legal drugs such as alcohol and relaxants like valium and sleeping tablets which have the potential to be dangerous if abused.
From our experience 15% substance abuse is not unusual in the workplace. However the objective of a Drug-Safe Workplace is to show the majority, the 85% who are not using drugs, that they can take control of their own welfare and assist their work mates to actively elminate alcohol and other drugs from the workplace.
By encouraging your workers to take ownership of their programme the concept of a Drug-Safe Workplace will become a positive feature of employment rather than a negative imposition.
Drug-Safe Workplace programmes are a “complete solution”.
Our “complete solution” is just that, we’ve thought of everything, and through our extensive experience we’re very aware there’s a right and wrong way to introduce and manage a programme as important as this. Our knowledge and expertise covers a broad spectrum of industries with single site or multi-site locations, this experience enables us to design a Drug-Safe Workplace programme specific to your needs.
