Education, Training & Awareness Programmes

Before any screening programme can be introduced to the workplace, it is important to introduce the Drug-Safe Workplace philosophy to your staff in such a way that they take ownership and pride in the outcome.

By stating clear objectives with total transparency the majority of your staff will embrace the concept of a Drug-Safe Workplace. While you may have a 10%, or even 20% substance abuse amongst your workers, you still have a majority who do not use illicit substances and are only too willing to be shown a way to ensure their safety and the safety of their colleagues.

From experience, we have found there are several stages of education, training and awareness that need to be conducted.

Alcohol & Other Drug awareness workshop (for all staff)

Our qualified team of trainers allow for all the hard questions to be asked and answered in a workshop atmosphere. Unions stress the need to have education and consultation on this issue and we provide as much information in a relaxed manner to satisfy the most critical scrutiny. This workshop ensures the ongoing process will go smoothly. Workshops are kept to a maximum of 30 delegates to ensure all questions are able to be addressed within the allotted time. Our Alcohol and Other Drugs awareness workshops are normally 90 minutes to ensure minimal impact upon production schedules. The content of each workshop is comprehensive and interactive involving data projection, videos and supporting literature.

New employees and contractors drug awareness programme

For clients who have introduced a Drug-Safe Workplace programme, we have a cost effective solution to deliver an alcohol and drug awareness induction for new employees and contractors.

Fit-for-Work assessment (for supervisors & managers)

Supervisors and relevant managers are trained to identify potential problems before they become serious issues. Delegates are shown correct procedures to follow in the form of 'Fit for Work' procedures and how to conduct a drug screen and simple breath analysis using the company's Alcoholiser. Workshops are limited to 6 - 8 delegates and run for approximately 3 hours. They are comprehensive and 'hands-on' with practical and theoretical elements. Delegates are assessed and presented with a Frontline Diagnostics Statement of Competency upon successfully completing the workshop.

OH&S committee consultation

The complex nature of introducing a Drug-Safe Workplace programme can sometimes cause unnecessary delays for the OH&S committee. This is not surprising as the issues surrounding a successful introduction are complex and numerous. Our management staff are experienced and can advise your committee on this important process.
